Ty Grigg

  • Birthday: April 7 (like Wager's)
  • Where do you hail from? Decatur, IL, or Round of Applause for Your Step Mother!
  • Any family? I have the best wife, Laura. We got married last June.
  • Degree? UIUC, B.S. in I.E. (Imaginary Engineering)
  • Years on staff? 6
  • Why did you come on staff with I-Life? I started acting like I was on staff when I was a student: leading small groups, home fellowships, mooching leftover food from the office refrigerator, so it seemed like a logical next step after school.
  • Why are you still here? I'm still here for the food in the refrigerator.
  • Major roles on staff? Public Teaching, Small Group Coaching, Office Manager, CHF Coordinator, Goofball
  • Are you available to hang out with students who wanna grab time with you? Absolutely.
  • Favorite spots on campus? Any coffee shop where I can look out windows. I like to go to Papa Del's for a slice of pizza for lunch and Bombay is the Bomb!
  • Ideal activity or event on campus? Going to see anything at Krannert. Catching a football or basketball game!
  • A few hobbies/pastimes? I used to have a few hobbies but I forgot to feed them so they died.
  • One experience that you wish every student would graduate with? The epic experience of serving and loving in the body of Christ.
  • What inspires you? Sacrificial love, generosity, vulnerability, silence, music, books, my wife, and my friends.
  • Current favorite movies, TV, music, books, etc? My embarrassing guilty pleasure is Smallville (and Gilmore Girls on DVD). My current favorite authors are Dallas Willard (Divine Conspiracy), Alan Hirsch (The Shaping of Things to Come), and Henri Nouwen (anything by him is a must read!). My bedtime reading has been The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. My favorite musicians include Keane, OneRepublic, Sufjan, Nickel Creek, Metric, Jimmy Eat World, Imogen Heap, and The Strokes.
  • Cubs or Cards? Die Hard Cubs. I was at the last playoff game at Wrigley Field that the Cubs won. 12-3, Game 2, 2003 NLCS.
  • 3 places you want to visit before you die? Rome, Yosemite, New York
  • Any other unusual facts about yourself? I have a Nubbin. (don't ask)
